Performing in their distinctive one-voice-per-part style, Amici Voices once again join forces with St James’ Baroque in an evening of Lenten contemplation.

A cycle of seven short cantatas, Membra Jesu Nostri is a vivid meditation on Christ’s Passion. Buxtehude calls to mind the human reality of Jesus’ death on the cross, addressing his suffering body: to the feet, the knees, the hands, the sides, the breast, the heart and the face.

Amici Voices is one of the most exciting young vocal ensembles in the UK today. Founded in Harpenden in 2012, they have given over 20 performances in the UK and Europe, most recently making their debut at St John’s Smith Square in London. Their first CD received 4* in the Telegraph, and their second will be released by Hyperion Records on March 1st 2019 and will be available to purchase at this concert.

Tickets for this concert are FREE with a retiring collection on the door to help cover costs. If you would like to help in anyway to support this concert, please get in touch here.
